Ben Gordon and Vernon Macklin Provide Volunteers of America Michigan Families with Thanksgiving Turkeys
Detroit, MI – November 22, 2011 – Basketball superstar and philanthropist, Ben Gordon along with 2011 draft pick from University of Florida, Vernon Macklin have teamed up this holiday season in hopes of helping 100 families by giving them turkeys for their Thanksgiving dinner. The turkey giveaway will take place on Tuesday, November 23, 2011 at the new Volunteers of America Veterans Facility located at 253 East Milwaukee, Detroit MI 48202.
“I’m looking forward to this, Vernon and I decided that even though we’re not playing right now we can still help Detroit and the people here as much as we can, I’m looking forward to doing this next year as well” mentioned Gordon.
This is the first year Gordon and Macklin have teamed up to help the Volunteers of America Michigan families. Ben Gordon is the Founder of the New Life Foundation that he currently runs to help underprivileged youth in the community. Families receiving turkeys have been pre-selected and qualified by Volunteers of America Michigan.
